INTO UAB has created a 3-semester program to allow students of any background to gain the appropriate pre-requisites to complete a Master’s of in Computer Science, Data Science, or Cyber Security at UAB: Graduate Pathway – Computer Science (Non-background) Program – progressing to Computer Science Gain a deep understanding of computer science and shape the future of computing through developing technology in software, cybersecurity and intelligence systems. Graduate Pathway – Cyber Security (Non-background) Program – progressing to MS Cybersecurity Become an expert in cyber defense, information security management, and digital forensics through this joint program offered with the department of criminal justice and business school. Graduate Pathway – Data Science (Non-background) Program – progressing to MS Data Science Hone subject-matter expertise and the skills needed to analyze the meaning behind big data using data mining and modeling, machine learning, visualization and effective data management. Key Program Facts: Each Computer Science program is 30 credits, so they can earn their MS degree in a little over 2 years even with these additional semesters. All students in this program, no matter their focus, will follow the same 3 semester (1 calendar year) study plan with the same courses. If students earn all As and Bs in major courses, they may take graduate-level Computer Science classes during their 3rd semester. Unfortunately, there is no flexibility in the 3 semester-length, however, students may change their degree track prior to progression. Students will take a math placement test prior to arrival and must test into Calculus 1 in their 1st semester.
